Mole Cricket
A velvet digger with shovels for hands. It sings from its burrow at night.
Uncommon bugs unlock with XP you earn playing online, or with coins. The game shows how to get each one.
Passive: Shovel Hands
+20% bite reach on grass and mushrooms; 15% knockback resistance.
A passive is always on: you never fire it and it never runs out. It is what the Mole Cricket does that no other bug does quite the same way.
Stats
Stats are multipliers on the standard bug, which is ×1.00 in everything (the game shows them as percentages: ×1.14 is 114%). Turn is Agility in the game. For Boost drain, lower is cheaper.

Power-ups
Every bug has 5 power-up slots. The Mole Cricket can carry 10 of the game's 18 power-ups: the 5 core ones every bug carries, and 5 more that its traits from the real animal allow. Its traits are digger, ground, singer and nocturnal.
Burrow
Go underground for 5s: untargetable, invisible to bots, 40% slower, cannot eat.
From its digger and ground traits.
Hyperdash
Instantly teleport 420u forward; for 0.4s only the wall can kill you.
From its nocturnal trait.
Nectar Bloom
For 10s every mouthful is worth double and you regenerate 6 mass per second.
From its nocturnal trait.
Chorus Chirp
Instant loud song: every enemy within 260u is slowed 45% for 2.5s. Never squishes.
From its singer trait.
Leaf Camouflage
Blend into the leaves for 6s: bots no longer see your head as a threat or as prey, and other players see you faded.
From its nocturnal trait.
Core power-ups: Nitro Wings, Molt Husks, Phase Shift, Pheromone Call, Shockwave.
How bots play it
Bots fill every seat no player is using. A bot playing the Mole Cricket plays it as a Grazer. Food first: senses food further off, reads a closing head from further away and bolts early; it almost never hunts.
Other grazer bugs: Caterpillar, Ladybird Beetle, Cicada, Millipede.
Skins
The Mole Cricket has 6 skins. A skin changes only how it looks, never how it plays. See them in the full skin gallery.
Sand Mole Cricket
Pale sand-coloured velvet for tunnelling through beach dunes.
Clay Mole Cricket
Red-clay velvet with peachy trim, dug straight out of a riverbank.
Velvet Mole Cricket
Dark chocolate velvet with a golden sheen, as soft as moleskin.
Nightshade Mole Cricket
Plum-purple velvet with lilac trim, singing in the garden after dark.
Golden Mole Cricket
Gleaming gold velvet with a row of bronze diamonds down its back.
Zombie Mole Cricket
Dug up from the pumpkin patch: zombie green-grey velvet with pale patches and sleepy eyes.
The real animal
The Mole Cricket in buggs.io is based on Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa, and its traits come from what the real animal does. Read about it on Wikipedia.
