Short description
buggs.io is a free multiplayer .io game where you play a bug. Eat to grow longer and cut the other bugs off with your body. Pick from 33 bugs based on real species, each with its own passive and 5 power-up slots.
Long description
buggs.io is a multiplayer .io game, free in your browser on a computer or a phone. You play a bug in an arena with other players, and bots fill the seats nobody is using. Eat grass, mushrooms and whatever other bugs leave behind to grow longer. Your head is fragile, but your body is a wall for everyone else: make another bug run into you, and most of its mass is left behind as food.
There are 33 bugs, each based on a real animal and shown with its scientific name, from the Ant to the Titan Beetle. Each one has its own stats and passive ability and carries 5 of 18 power-ups, such as a silk snare, a venom trail or a burrow. Every few minutes, weather hits part of the arena: a heatwave, a downpour, a blizzard, a thunderstorm or a gale, with a power-up cache at the center of each circle. Friends can share an arena in a party room, and Play Offline is an arena of bots.
Every bug, the ground and every sound in the game is generated by code. Nothing you can buy is random, and power-up charges, cooldowns and loadout slots are never sold.
Key features
- 33 bugs based on real insects, spiders, scorpions, a centipede and a millipede, each with its scientific name, its own stats, a passive ability, and bots that play the way that bug would.
- 18 power-ups and 5 slots. The 5 core power-ups fit every bug; the rest fit only the bugs they make sense for.
- 5 kinds of weather that hit part of the arena every few minutes, with a power-up cache at the center of each circle.
- Ways to play: online arenas where bots fill the empty seats, party rooms for friends, ranked arenas and events when they run, and Play Offline against bots.
- 2 maps, more than 200 skins (at least one for every bug) and more than 25 trails.
- Mouse, keyboard, touch or gamepad, with accessibility settings: invert boost, a one-switch mode, HUD size, a color-blind-safe rarity palette and high contrast.
- Made for all ages. No chat and no private messages, filtered nicknames, and no real-money purchases by a child under 13 until a parent gives verifiable consent.
- Fair. Nothing you pay for is random, and power-up charges, cooldowns and loadout slots are never sold.
- Drawn by code. No hand-drawn or stock art: every bug, the ground and every sound comes from a recipe the game turns into pictures and sound.
